ROBERT BURATTI

Robert Buratti is a writer, curator, and researcher based in Boorloo/Perth, whose multifaceted career spans exhibitions at venues including the S.H Ervin Gallery, New York University, and WA Museum Boola Bardip, with recognition in major prizes such as the Doug Moran Portrait Prize, Albany Art Prize and The Lester Prize.
As a curator, Buratti has collaborated on a number of important projects with key institutions including the National Gallery of Australia, Art Gallery of WA, Mornington Peninsula Regional Gallery, City Gallery Wellington, and The Dowse Museum to partnerships with The Tea Party, Melbourne Symphony Orchestra and NASA's OSIRIS-REx space mission. Currently the Editorial Director for Art Collector magazine, he is also pursuing doctoral research at the University of Western Australia on art history and religious iconography.

TERMINUS (2025)
Short Film, Science Fiction
TERMINUS is an experimental short film exploring the emergence of technology and artificial intelligence through 3D generative modelling techniques. The film has been selected for numerous international short film festivals including the popular "Lift -Off Sessions" for emerging filmmakers at Pinewood Studios, UK. The project is currently touring the international film festival circuit.


STUDIOCITY: CREATING FREMANTLE (2026)

CREATING FREMANTLE is a documentary film that captures the artistic transformation of Western Australia's historic port city. Through focused interviews with local artists and cultural figures, the film examines how creative communities have shaped Fremantle's distinctive identity. By documenting key artistic locations and cultural initiatives, the project provides an intimate portrait of a city where heritage architecture and contemporary creativity converge.

THE OTHER ART WORLD (2026)

THE OTHER ART WORLD examines the hidden realms of art practice that exist beyond traditional institutional frameworks. This documentary explores alternative creative communities, underground movements, and outsider artists who operate outside mainstream recognition. Through intimate portraits and revealing interviews, the film documents innovative approaches to artistic expression while questioning established definitions of artistic legitimacy.
